Taiwanese activist Lee Ming-che (李明哲) was sentenced to five years in prison by a Chinese court for subversion of state power.
Taiwan‘s Presidential Office wrote, “It is regrettable that the Lee Ming-che case has seriously damaged cross-strait relations and especially challenged Taiwanese people’s persistence and ideals for democracy and freedom.”
